We are seeing more games moving from the physical tabletop scene into the virtual realm, and Asmodee Digital has already brought Gloomhaven over to PC lands. The initial version of Gloomhaven will set you back €25/$25 and will contain four playable characters. Originally developed by Flame Fowl Studios, which is based on the award-winning tabletop game from Isaac Childre, Gloomhaven has sold more than 500k units through early access.
You can get a pretty good idea of what this new Gloomhaven is all about through the recently posted "Gameplay Overview" trailer. Have a peek, it's quite an informative one: Most notably, the focus in the video game adaptation will be on the highly replayable singleplayer content, with the multiplayer campaign only set to arrive at some point in the future. Gloomhaven is a board game of top-rated status, so it is not surprising we saw last year a full-fledged version of its PC video game. That said, it is worth mentioning that while the Gloomhaven game will have many of the same themes and mechanics as the original board game, it will be a bit of a different experience. Last year, Flame Fowl Studios released Gloomhaven, the digital adaptation of the highly-acclaimed tabletop board game of the same name, on Steam and GOG, billed as a dungeon-crawling tactical role-playing game. as well as how long it can sometimes take to set it all up! So if you would like to avoid all of that hassle, or if you just don't have enough interested friends to give it a proper try, you might be happy to hear that Gloomhaven will be getting a video game adaptation on Steam this July 17th! If you're even remotely interested in board games, chances are you've at least heard of the immensely popular Gloomhaven. : Gloomhaven has now been officially released into Steam Early Access! There's still a lot of work that needs to be done, but I'm glad to say that the initial version shows quite a lot of potential.
